Assigmentboxes

connect the FREMO-Ringleitung (bus cable) and the track of the modul.
They have a 16pole Cable with Amphenol- connectors to match the 'Ringleitung'. In every assigmentbox is one assigment circuit installed. The connection to the track each box has two 4mm plugs, which will be connected to like ones at the interfaces at the modulends.
Usually the plugs for the WAC are also installed in the same box.

Assigment circuit mit multiple switches

is widely used in the Fremo. In the drawing below the principle is shown with three control units and one stop button. You can extend this scheme to the right as far as you find necessary.
The FREMO uses 5 controlers for the whole layout plus one or more local throttles at stations or other operating moduls.

	     STOP      BLUE      GREY     BROWN

	      T                   T         T
	      !                   !         !
	      !         T         !         !
	      !____     !____     !____     !_0
	   Sv_/    \____!    \____/    \____/
	      !__0      \__a      !__a      !__a
	      !         !         !         !
	      !____     !____     !____     !_0
	   Sh_/    \____!    \____/    \____/
	       __0      \__b       __b       __b

explanation: a, b = the DC wires of the respective controler from the 'Ringleitung'
Sv = nearest Rail - Sh = the other rail
0 = open contact - _/\ = electric connection
T = Pushbutton - ! = mechanical connection

In the drawing the switch BLUE is pushed and locked. It connects the DC output of the blue controler - via the 2 wires assigned to this controler inside the 'Ringleitung' with the track.
If you want to supply power to this track from the brown controler, push button BROWN, in the same moment the button BLUE is released by a spring.
Note the course of the power via the contacts of switch GREY and BLUE and the STOP-switch. If due to an operator error one of these is pushed as well, the switch to the left has always priority and the connection between the switch to the right is interrupted automatically. It is possible, that a unwanted controler is connected with the track, but it is impossible, that more then one controler powers the same track.
The unwanted consequences of such an connection between two controlers might not only show at this box, but everywhere on the layout, where the 'other' controler is used. All tracks assigned to any of the two controlers react in the same way as our own track to both controlers. This might be fatal to engines (and controlers, if they are working against each other for extended periods).

Placement of the boxes

The Assignmentboxes are fixed to the sides of the respective modules by c-clamps.
The exact place is dependend on several criterias: View to the controled track, danger of mixup with other boxes (e.g. at junctions), preferred operator walkway, possibility to connect with the 'Ringleitung', sufficient working space for the operators.
